AT GREENFIELD PARK LUTHERAN CHURCH WITH THE GIRL SCOUTS

February 11th, 2020

What a Night at Greenfield Park Lutheran Church on February 11, 2020 with the Girl Scouts Cadette Troop 8175 from West Allis and Girl Scouts Junior Troop 1020 from Walker Elementary.  WOW! What an amazing group of Upstanders.  Tonight, we learned all about the characteristics of the Upstander and how they make their school a better environment.  They understood how important it is to become part of the solution and help stop bullying in their schools, no matter where the bullying occurs, whether on the bus, at the lunch table, at a school sporting event, drama club, or any extracurricular events.  They don’t want to see bullying occur-it hurts!  We talked about cyberbullying and how this form of bullying, using the social media to attack others, is so difficult to stop.

The troop had so many great ideas on how to be an Upstander!  They even used the GAB puppets to create various scenes that could help to remove the victim from the bullying situation.  The girls also received an Upstander bracelet for all their participation.

The highlight of the evening for the Troops was the special guest who came to visit.   GAB’s Outstanding Upstander, Jahbarri Bradshaw, engaged the girls in his new “Stand Out” hip hop song.  The troop had so much fun singing along with Jahbarri that they got up and jumped around.

We offer a special Thank You to Troop Leader Laura Lang for inviting us to present to the Troops.  They earned their Upstander Patch and Certificate.  Congratulations Troop 8175 and 1020.  Continue your journey as an Upstander and we look forward to bringing Buddy Bear to the next visit.
