Tuesday, September 8th, we shared an amazing evening with the local baseball team, the Milkmen, Steve Taylor, Executive Director of ROC, and his staff. The weather tried its darndest to put a damper on the evening, but could not discourage our GAB volunteers. All 17 did a terrific job promoting and selling tickets for the raffles and drawings held by the Rock.
We’d like to give a giant shout out to the fans and attendees, and let all them know how deeply we appreciate them and their enthusiasm about what GAB is doing to put an end to bullying. This has been our second year involved with this fun filled event, and we would love to continue our relationship with the Milkmen for years to come.
At this time we’d like to send out a special thank you to our spokesperson Miss Leia Rios, Ambassador of Hope, and mom, Debbie Rios, who donated the lights and earned GAB almost $200. Thank you to our Pageant Queens, Jessey Leisso, Mariah Bader, Skylar Jai and Gigi Hernandez who helped to sell the lights at the game.
This year GAB has been incredibly busy dealing with so much violence, abuse, and bullying. We get calls every day from parents expressing their concern for their children, and sadly, we have lost 3 children under the age of 14 to bullycide in the last month, so having the opportunity to engage in positive events, enjoy a night of family fun time, excitement and happiness, and still be able to get our message out about the Upstander is a dream come true. We greatly appreciate our partnership and hope we can collaborate more in the future. Our world needs us more than ever during these times of violence and political unrest.
85% of the time the bullying will stop within 10 seconds if a bystander becomes an Upstander in a non-threatening way.
